    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) is a provincial non-profit organization whose mandate is to help women start, grow and advance successful businesses. To achieve this mandate, NLOWE offers women entrepreneurs access to quality skills development opportunities throughout the province.

    NLOWE is currently seeking submissions from qualified individuals and businesses for inclusion in the 2013-2014 NLOWE Trainers’ List.  Training may be delivered in-person or by webinar and include large group and small group (less than 10 participants) format.

    Training topics must be at the intermediate or advanced level and MUST be related to business growth.  Areas may include but are not limited to:

    • Marketing
    • Social Media
    • Accounting and Finance
    • Succession Planning
    • Sales and Customer Service
    • Strategic Planning
    • Human Resources
    • Business Planning
    • Leadership

    Inclusion on NLOWE’s 2013-2014 Trainer’s list does not guarantee that the applicant will be engaged to deliver training. Training events offered by NLOWE are based on the needs of the business owners we serve.  The trainers’ list will be the primary method of engaging trainers; however the organization reserves the right to solicit proposals from outside the list if a suitable trainer is unavailable. Priority will be given to members of NLOWE.

    NLOWE is currently recruiting a qualified woman for the following position, Industry Liason (Full-time contract position until March 31, 2014). Based at head office in St. John's, the successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of current provincial natural resource developments, mega projects, benefits agreements, supplier diversity initiatives, procurement and supply chain processes. She will be proactive in establishing and building relationships with key industry stakeholders. Duties and tasks include; Establish and maintain strategic relationships with a broad range of relevant industry stakeholders; develop, promote and implement initiatives that cultivate industry wide engagement for key issues, including benefits agreements, supplier diversity, and supply chain integration; build and maintain relationships with key partners, stakeholders and women business owners in order to clearly understand and address their supplier needs; contribute and participate in events, conference, seminars and workshops; and research and make recommendations for best practices in supplier diversity. The ideal candidate will have a minimum undergraduate degree in business administration or commerce and at least three years of significant industry experience in oil and gas, mining or natural resources. The candidate must have excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills; be able to work independently and in teams; and be comfortable balancing multiple competing tasks. Having well-established business and industry networks is an asseet. This position requires regular travel. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.     • One (1) Conference registration to NLOWE's 2013 Annual Conference, April 17-18 at the Hotel Gander in Gander, NL;

    Contest Rules:

    • Prize is non-transferable
    • If the winner is already registered to attend the full conference or the keynote luncheon, a full refund will be issued for the full conference fee or the keynote luncheon fee respectively.
    • All other costs associated with conference attendance (travel, accommodation, etc.) are the responsibility of the prize winner.
    • Participants who are already fans (i.e. have "liked") NLOWE's Facebook page receive one entry for every comment answering the contest question on Facebook.
    • Participants who already follow NLOWE on Twitter receive one entry for every tweet that answers the contest question on Twitter AND contains the conference hashtag (#nloweconf). 
    • Participants receive one entry for following NLOWE's blog, Around & About.
    • Participant's who follow NLOWE's blog, Around & About, receive one entry for every comment made on posts published on or between March 6th and March 27th.
    • Multiple entries are permitted.

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) will hold its 16th Annual Conference on April 17-18, 2013 at the Hotel Gander in Gander, NL. We are currently seeking submissions from members who wish to participate in this conference as a presenter of one of several 75 minute workshop sessions


    Conference workshops provide an intimate, interactive forum for acquainting the conference audience with new trends in business management skills and professional development, often through hands-on experience. Attendees will include NLOWE clients and members, industry organizations, and government agencies. We are entertaining submissions on a variety of topics, including but not limited to the following: Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing, Social Media, Work/Life Balance, Strategic Planning, and Advanced Communication Skills.


    Interested parties are asked to submit proposals via email as an attachment in PDF, or Microsoft Word format (electronic format required!) by Friday, February 8, 2013.


    Your submission should include:

    • a synopsis of the topic(s) to be covered;
    • target audience (i.e. new entrepreneurs, established business owners, managers, etc.);
    • learning objectives;
    • the topic's relevance to business management skills development;
    • samples of materials to be distributed at the workshop, and preferred method of delivery (i.e. PowerPoint presentation, interactive discussion, etc.);
    • a resume which clearly demonstrates the presenter's skill or expertise in the subject area and three recent references from previous presentations,
    • associated costs (if any);

      Please note that this call is open to NLOWE members only.

    1. A confirmation of receipt of submission will be sent to each applicant.
    2. By submitting an application for consideration, it is understood that you may be contacted by NLOWE for follow-up and more information on your submission, however, only those applicants selected for further consideration will be contacted.
    3. Selection of submission(s) will be based on the originality of the submission, the quality of the description, the relevance of the contribution to conference attendees, qualifications of the trainer, the quality of their work and cost to the organization. NLOWE reserves the right to make the final selection.
    4. A decision will be made by NLOWE and the successful applicant notified no later than February 22, 2013.
