    Call for Submissions - 2014.pdf

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) will hold its 17th Annual Conference on April 2-3, 2014 at the Delta Hotel & Conference Centre in St. John's, NL. We are currently seeking submissions from members who wish to participate as a presenter for one of three 75 minute workshop sessions held during the pre-conference on April 2, 2014

    Conference workshops provide an intimate, interactive forum for acquainting the audience with new trends in business management skills and professional development, often through hands-on experience. Attendees will include NLOWE members and clients, industry organizations, and government agencies. We are entertaining submissions on a variety of topics, including but not limited to the following: Leadership, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing, Social Media, Work/Life Balance, Strategic Planning, and Advanced Communication Skills.

     

    Interested parties are asked to submit proposals via email as an attachment in PDF, or Microsoft Word format (electronic format required!) by Friday, February 14, 2014.

     

    Your submission should include:

    • a synopsis of the topic(s) to be covered;
    • target audience (i.e. new entrepreneurs, established business owners, managers, etc.);
    • learning objectives;
    • the topic's relevance to business management skills development;
    • samples of materials to be distributed at the workshop, and preferred method of delivery (i.e. PowerPoint presentation, interactive discussion, etc.);
    • a resume which clearly demonstrates the presenter's skill or expertise in the subject area and three recent references from previous presentations,
    • associated costs (if any);

      Please note that this call is open to NLOWE members only.

    Proposals must be received no later than Friday, February 14, 2014.

    1. A confirmation of receipt of submission will be sent to each applicant.
    2. By submitting an application for consideration, it is understood that you may be contacted by NLOWE for follow-up and more information on your submission, however, only those applicants selected for further consideration will be contacted.
    3. Selection of submission(s) will be based on the originality of the submission, the quality of the description, the relevance of the contribution to conference attendees, qualifications of the trainer, the quality of their work and cost to the organization. NLOWE reserves the right to make the final selection.
    4. A decision will be made by NLOWE and the successful applicant notified no later than February 21, 2014.

    NLOWE will be taking a group of businesswomen from Newfoundland and Labrador to participate in business meetings in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 7- 11, 2014. This will be in consultation with a Regional Partner Organization of WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council): Women’s Business Development Council South whose territory includes Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee & the Florida Panhandle.

    Opportunities will focus on international business development and include meeting with women business owners and corporate buyers as well as specific training, focused networking, matchmaking meetings, and a business fair.

    Deadline for applications from women business owners is extended to Friday, February 7.

    Virtual Holiday Showcase presented by NLOWE wreath
    Are you a member or client of NLOWE who is also a retailer, artist, or craftsperson?

    Do you have a website or Facebook page where customers can view your products?

    Can customers purchase your products either online or by phone?

    Then apply to have your business listed on NLOWE's Virtual Holiday Showcase!



    NLOWE is compiling a list of retailers to be featured on our website during the months of November and December.

    Each participant will have her store/website information listed on the Holiday Showcase webpage. Participants will also be permitted to submit information about one product or line of products, which will be featured on NLOWE's Facebook page during November or December, in order to promote her participation in the Virtual Holiday Showcase.

    If you would like to participate in the Virtual Holiday Showcase and submit one of your products please fill out the Application Form along with a high-resolution picture of the product and your business' logo and email to jreddy@nlowe.org by Friday, October 25.
