    Get in on the conversartion. You are invited to participate in a discussion group to share your experiences with NLOWE in order to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our members, clients, and the women entrepreneurs of Newfoundland and Labrador well into the future.     Call for Videographer

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) is currently seeking a qualified videographer to shoot, produce and edit eight, two-minute videos for the 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Gala to be held on October 30, 2014. The primary objective of these videos is to showcase award winners.


    Scope of Work
    The videographer will:

    1. Production
      • Set up interviews in person with award winners who have been identified by NLOWE;
      • Arrange necessary camera crew and equipment;
      • Conduct and shoot in-depth interviews with each winner about their entrepreneurial history, i.e. how, why, where and when each subject got into business, who she has been inspired by, what her qualifications are, what obstacles she has faced and how she has overcome them, what her individual and unique challenges have been, etc.
      • Incorporate into each video a character profile, i.e. what skills she possesses that contribute to her success in winning the award.
      • Discover through the interview process how NLOWE has been of assistance in each subject's entrepreneurial journey

    1. Post Production
      • Collect footage, digitize, shot-list and edit into 120 second finished videos with titles, graphics and music.
      • Send a rough cut of each video to NLOWE for review, comments and approval before delivery.
      • Purchase supplies, music rights and graphics as necessary.
      • Delivery finished videos on a flash drive at full resolution.

    All original recorded interviews/video, purchased supplies, music rights and graphics will remain the property of NLOWE and may not be used for purposes other than that specified herein without permission.


    Time frame 

    All work must be completed and submitted to NLOWE by October 20, 2014.


    Interested parties are asked to submit a proposal outlining their qualifications by September 5, 2014.


    Please ensure the proposal includes the following information:

    • Resume outlining your qualifications and experience in this area
    • Three recent references
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver
    • Samples of related work
    • Associated costs

    NLOWE will be taking a group of businesswomen from Newfoundland and Labrador to participate in business meetings and a conference in Orlando, Florida, September 10-12, 2014.

    The trade mission includes business to business pre-arranged matchmaker meetings and participation in the business development conference for women entrepreneurs, Go for the Greens. This is a boutique event offering business opportunities and support from a wide variety of organizations including Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO), The International Alliance for Women (TIAW), and Walt Disney. www.goforthegreens.org. The golf component is optional.

    The trade mission will be in consultation with a Regional Partner Organization, WBDC: Women’s Business Development Council of Florida, whose territory includes Florida (minus the panhandle), Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) will hold its 17th Annual Conference on April 2-3, 2014 at the Delta Hotel & Conference Centre in St. John's, NL. We are currently seeking submissions from members who wish to participate as a presenter for one of three 75 minute workshop sessions held during the pre-conference on April 2, 2014

    Conference workshops provide an intimate, interactive forum for acquainting the audience with new trends in business management skills and professional development, often through hands-on experience. Attendees will include NLOWE members and clients, industry organizations, and government agencies. We are entertaining submissions on a variety of topics, including but not limited to the following: Leadership, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing, Social Media, Work/Life Balance, Strategic Planning, and Advanced Communication Skills.

     

    Interested parties are asked to submit proposals via email as an attachment in PDF, or Microsoft Word format (electronic format required!) by Friday, February 14, 2014.

     

    Your submission should include:

    • a synopsis of the topic(s) to be covered;
    • target audience (i.e. new entrepreneurs, established business owners, managers, etc.);
    • learning objectives;
    • the topic's relevance to business management skills development;
    • samples of materials to be distributed at the workshop, and preferred method of delivery (i.e. PowerPoint presentation, interactive discussion, etc.);
    • a resume which clearly demonstrates the presenter's skill or expertise in the subject area and three recent references from previous presentations,
    • associated costs (if any);

      Please note that this call is open to NLOWE members only.

    NLOWE will be taking a group of businesswomen from Newfoundland and Labrador to participate in business meetings in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 7- 11, 2014. This will be in consultation with a Regional Partner Organization of WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council): Women’s Business Development Council South whose territory includes Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee & the Florida Panhandle.

    Opportunities will focus on international business development and include meeting with women business owners and corporate buyers as well as specific training, focused networking, matchmaking meetings, and a business fair.

    Deadline for applications from women business owners is extended to Friday, February 7.
