    Moving Women Online

The Atlantic Canadian Women in Growth Partnership (ACWGP) is a three-year project between four Atlantic women's business organizations -

    - The Nova Scotia Centre for Women in Business (CWB)
    - Prince Edward Island Business Women's Association (PEIBWA)
    - Women in Business New Brunswick (WBNB), and
    - Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) as the project lead.

This project is funded by ACOA through the Federal Government's Women's Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund aimed to address gaps and build capacity in the entrepreneurship ecosystem for women.

ACWGP has two main goals for the women's entrepreneurial ecosystem in Atlantic Canada:

    1. Increase each organization's capacity to support women in start-up and growth phases.

    2. Increase participation of under-represented women, such as newcomer women, women with disabilities, indigenous women, rural women, as well as women in non-traditional trades and in STEM related fields.

Research shows that women face barriers starting and growing businesses. These barriers and more exist for under-represented groups. We want to learn what these barriers are and how we can support these women through partnerships and tailored programming to empower more women to realize their entrepreneurial potential in Atlantic Canada.

    Moving Women Online

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted women business owners and has forces us to rethink how we do business now and into the future. ACWGP is offering the opportunity to women entrepreneurs in Atlantic Canada to move their current business operations to an online eCommerce platform so they can continue to grow business opportunities throughout and beyond COVID-19.

This program will be delivered virtually in each of the Atlantic provinces through a combination of small group training and individual hands-on technical support.

If you are a woman business owner and think this is an opportunity to help you and your business, please complete the Expression of Interest.

Deadline to receive submissions: Friday, June 26th, 2020

Please click here for details and to submit an Expression of Interest.

For more information on this initiative, please contact:

    Sarah Thompson

    Project Manager

This project is proudly funded by ACOA.

A Message from CEO, Jennifer Bessell

COVID-19 continues to develop and spread, and we understand that businesses are facing many challenges during this time. We are committed to doing our part to take measures that are critical to slowing down the spread of illness, while also operating in a safe capacity that allows us to be available to assist our members.

The NLOWE team is small but wide reaching – we have business advisors located in regions across the Newfoundland and Labrador who have the ability and support to work remotely from their homes. Our staff at head office in St. John’s also have supports in place to get work done in a safe manner while serving our clients.

    Effective Immediately:

    - All in person meetings and gatherings will be postponed and/or cancelled,

    - Where possible, meetings will continue online through conferencing platforms such as zoom,

    - Business Advisors continue to be available to members and clients through teleconferencing and other virtual platforms,All staff travel suspended,

    - We have made the proactive yet difficult decision to cancel one of our biggest professional development and networking events, our annual conference, which typically gathers a large crowd of 150-200 guests,

    - Our AGM will also be postponed until further notice.

    Effective Wednesday, March 18:

    - St. John’s office will be closed as staff commence working from home for the foreseeable future.  While working from home, staff will still be accessible during regular business hours.

Please watch our website for coming announcements regarding online events and presentations as we strive to respond to concerns as they arise.

Your goal is to succeed in business, and ours is to make sure you do. During this COVID-19 global pandemic, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or business concerns. If we take action now, we can help slow acceleration of the number of COVID-19 cases.

Please take care of each other and stay safe.

    Jennifer Bessell, CEO
