    Attend a National Conference with NLOWE. Opening Doors, 5th annual WEConnect Canada National Conference, November 4-5, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario

    NLOWE is currently recruiting participants from women-owned businesses to join a delegation that will take part in WEConnect Canada's 2013 Annual Conference, "Opening Doors," Nov. 4-5 in Toronto.

    Eligible companies will have access to pre-conference training and may qualify for a travel stipend.

    "Opening Doors" is a national event that brings together women business owners, corporations and government representatives to network and do business.

    Interested parties must complete the Expression of Interest form and fax it to Deborah Youden at 709.754.0079.

    Deadline for Expressions of Interest is Friday, Oct. 4.

    NLOWE will be taking a group of businesswomen from Newfoundland and Labrador to participate in business meetings and conference in Miami, Florida October 15- 18, 2013. This will be in consultation with a Regional Partner Organization of WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council): Women’s Business Development Council of Florida whose territory includes Florida (minus the panhandle), Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.  It will involve outside business matchmaking meetings with companies/corporations.

    Opportunities will also include meeting with other women business owners and corporate buyers as well as specific training and focused networking.

    Deadline for expressions of interest from women business owners is Friday, August 16.

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs  (NLOWE) seeks the services of an in-market consultant for the delivery of professional consulting services related to International Business Development for three trade missions for women business enterprises (referred to hereafter as WBEs):


    1.  Oct 16-18, 2013 in the Miami (South Florida) Market


    2.  April 7-10, 2014 in New Orleans (South Eastern United States) Market


    3.  June 2014 in Philadelphia


    We will accept proposals for either one, two, or three trade missions.  Working dates in this Request for Proposals (RFP) refer to the first trade mission and will be adjusted for the others.

Any substantive questions with replies will be shared with each consultant expressing an interest in this project.

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) is currently recruiting business professionals to serve as judges for its 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.


    Interested persons must be a member of the business community of Newfoundland and Labrador, either as a current or former business owner or employee of a company or organization that works with and/or provides services for business owners. Award nominees may not serve as award judges; however, previous award winners and nominees are eligible. Expressions of interest are encouraged from all regions of the province.


    Award judges will serve as members of selection committees for individual awards and will evaluate and score all eligible applications from nominees. Judges will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to viewing award applications and to indicate the business sector in which they are involved in order to protect the competitive interests of award nominees.


    Persons interested in serving as a judge for NLOWE's 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards should contact Julieanne Reddy, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, with the following information by Friday, July 12:  

    • Name
    • Business/organization name
    • Business sector
    • Contact information (e-mail and daytime telephone number)
    • No more than one paragraph outlining your qualifications to serve as an award judge

    Judging is expected to take place in late August 2013.

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) is a provincial non-profit organization whose mandate is to help women start, grow and advance successful businesses. To achieve this mandate, NLOWE offers women entrepreneurs access to quality skills development opportunities throughout the province.

    NLOWE is currently seeking submissions from qualified individuals and businesses for inclusion in the 2013-2014 NLOWE Trainers’ List.  Training may be delivered in-person or by webinar and include large group and small group (less than 10 participants) format.

    Training topics must be at the intermediate or advanced level and MUST be related to business growth.  Areas may include but are not limited to:

    • Marketing
    • Social Media
    • Accounting and Finance
    • Succession Planning
    • Sales and Customer Service
    • Strategic Planning
    • Human Resources
    • Business Planning
    • Leadership

    Inclusion on NLOWE’s 2013-2014 Trainer’s list does not guarantee that the applicant will be engaged to deliver training. Training events offered by NLOWE are based on the needs of the business owners we serve.  The trainers’ list will be the primary method of engaging trainers; however the organization reserves the right to solicit proposals from outside the list if a suitable trainer is unavailable. Priority will be given to members of NLOWE.
