NLOWE is pleased to announce that the keynote speakers for its 2012 Annual Conference will be The Cupcake Girls.

Heather White and Lori Joyce opened the first cupcake bakery retail store in North America in April 2002. Although they knew little about baking or cupcakes when they first opened, demand for their old-fashioned cupcakes grew quickly. Now in their ninth year of operations, Heather and Lori are recognized as two of British Columbia's top entrepreneurs and manage two corporate bakeries as well as six franchise bakeries.

They are also the stars of W Network's The Cupcake Girls,
which follows the daily life of running a business while also adapting to their new roles as parents.

The show is now in its third season and has been nominated three times for a Gemini Award and is watched in over 90 countries worldwide.

NLOWE's 2012 Annual Conference will be held on April 25-26 at the Delta Hotel & Conference Centre in St. John's. This marks the 15th year that NLOWE has held a provincial conference focused on women in business as well members of the business community, industry professionals, government representatives and community partners to learn, network and do business. Registration will soon be available online at www.nlowe.org.

"Having The Cupcake Girls as the keynote speakers at NLOWE's annual provincial conference builds on our reputation for providing high-quality speakers and relevant training opportunities for women in business across the province," says Karen Noftall, president of NLOWE's Board of Directors and owner of Quality Matters Inc. in St. John's.

"Heather and Lori are dynamic speakers and their shared experience, from essentially not knowing anything about their business to growing it to national and international prominence, is one to which many women business owners can relate. The business rules that they'll provide at our conference will be extremely valuable for any woman in Newfoundland and Labrador who wants to learn more about running a successful business."

NLOWE is a provincial, non-profit organization that offers services to women in business thanks to the financial support of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
